Family Jams

Christmas wouldn't have been complete without matching jammies for the whole family.  My quest to be like the Von Trapps (minus the Nazi bit and probably the singing) is slowly coming to fruition.  Next step is matching outfits for the whole family to wear in public.  Now if I can just find some curtains....

This year we spent Christmas at home with just our family.  It was quiet and relaxing.  We spent Christmas eve watching Christmas movies and most of Christmas day was spent in our jammies.  One or two of us spent the entire day in his or her jammies.

I made pants for everyone using the same fabric.  I picked up some flannel shirting fabric rather than the quilting flannel that I normally use for jammies.  I think I will use shirting fabric from now on; it is so soft and cuddly!  The plaid is a little old-manish, but for jammies I can live with it.  I used the Simplicity 9499 pattern for hubby's and my pants.  For Little Man's pants I used the Sweetheart PJ pants pattern from my Sewing for Boys book.  For Mini Man's pants I used the Mr. Two Face pants pattern from the same book.

For the boys' shirts I used this awesome dinosaur fabric I found in the clearance bin.  I used the Stretch and Sew 862 pattern for Little Man's shirt and the R is for Romper pattern from Sewing for Boys for Mini Man's shirt.  I didn't add the snaps to the shoulders and made it a t-shirt rather than a romper.

I didn't really want dinosaurs (plus didn't have enough fabric) on my shirt so for Hubby's and my shirts I used the same blue interlock that I used on the boys' cuffs and neck.  Our shirts were made using the same Simplicity 9499 pattern.

Watching movies
After dinner everyone opened their new jammies then we crammed together on the couch to watch The Grinch.  It was great.

On another note, I've started a Facebook page.  Check it out!  I'm not sure what I'll be posting...photos of my sewing progress, complaints of my messy sewing room, questions/discussion?  Who knows!  Join me and find out!

  1. I love the idea of pyjamas the same for the whole family at Christmas. It doesn't seem the same when it's summer pjs down here, though.
